I know this is a little late but guess what folks? The new E-Class saloon and coupe is now (or from April) available for order from parallel importers.

Unique for this new range of engines is that they are turbocharged and direct injection. They (Mercedes Benz) mentioned they were going to turbocharged their new engines after 2010.

Let’s look at the most affordable yet still as powerful model, E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY. Although the name suggest a 2.5 litre engine, it actually houses a 1,796cc inline-4 direct injection and turbocharged engine. It produces 204hp at 5,500rpm. This brings the car from start to 100km/h in just 7.7 seconds. What’s more, fuel consumption is only 8.9 litres per 100km (City).

Prices for saloon starts at $162,000 and coupe from $194,000. For the saloon, local dealers offer the E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and E350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY with different packages. Whereas for the coupe, only E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and E350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY are offered. All are automatic transmission.

Anyway, CGI is Mercedes talk for direct injection.
