My Teeth Gap is Finally Gone!

Today, eugenemon will risk his image to show you the results, erm, also the before one.
Synopsis
I had a gap in the front of my tooth when I was in primary six. Because of that, I got rich. Because 财源滚滚来 (cai yuan gun gun lai), that is through that little hole. And then, during these few years of maturing, the gap matured too. It grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger till it was 3mm wide. So… I decided to take action.
23rd OCT 2007:
Actually, what I did was I bought the clear dental bands for like S$30 (around there lah). How they works is you just wear them around your teeth. Then they will pull your teeth together to close the gap.

Q: How long do you have to wear it?
A: For as long as the gap is there lor. Braces also must wear few years mah. The gap usually takes at least few weeks to close. (See below for my time)

Small right? Then you have to stretch them around your teeth. Of course is the 2 teeth beside the gap. Aiya, you will know what I mean lah!

26th OCT 2007: 3 days have past. Although you can see no difference, the gap has became smaller, by 0.5mm. ((=
Days past, it became smaller, and smaller. And some days I got lasy, so I forgot to wear the clear dental bands and it got bigger, and smaller again and so on.

eugenemon still caught wearing the dental bands with gap, still there. Quick, laugh now! So ugly lah the picture. My dad was testing his new N95 8GB camera when he did this. Don’t mind bout the Linksys, I am not affiliated with them.

The gap has fully gone. =D
Actually, it has been gone for a week or so. But I just want to see what happens next. Well, nothing happened. Just the usual open sesame and close sesame game.
Disavantage
This thing is effective to closing your gap, not more then 3mm. But is not permanent. You need to get retainers to hold it. Or the gap will still appear. If not, why bother wearing a braces for so many years?
Another thing, it will only help to close gaps. It’s does not help to straighten your crooked teeth, which I’ll be moving on to next.
Conclusion
I bought this just for the fun of trying it. I never believe it will work but $30 is worth the fun. But it did work. Just like the TV advertisement, 现在我变得更有自信了.

hello… my friend was trying those on too, but she had a piece of skin in bewtween the gap. from your before pics, it looks like you did too. when she wears it, the skin (or gum) squeezes inbetween the gap. sometimes, when she takes them off, her gum bleeds in the middle a little bit and the gum feels loose. is this normal? she is very scared. she is with me right now. please answer.
Hi, I do not have this problem. Is she wearing it too often? Wearing the bands for long period might move the teeth too fast and hurt the roots.
She can try to wear it less long like few hours a day. For me, the gap took hours (4-5) to open when I’m not wearing the band. When I wear it, it took 2 hours or less to close.
What I suggest now is to abandon the band for now for the gum to recover.
Anyway, I have stopped using the bands as it is only a temporary solution to the gaps.

To Sabrinia, In regards to the gum between your teeth, you can have that surgically removed. Not very painful and pretty easy to do. Ask your Orthodontist.
How come you stopped using this product? Did the gap return?
TO Jessica: Hi, yes the gap has returned. I stopped using this product because it isn’t permanent.
Yeah I bought some elastics somewhere else since they are only orthodontic elastics you can find anywhere if you are willing to take a guess on the size.. I wore them at night.. spaced out the next morning.. Never gonna shut the space I have on the side.. I cant wear it during the day.. not around the first like 8 teeth.. I mean you have an elastic going across the roof of your mouth.. besides I’m kinda skeptical about what it does to your teeth roots..

TO Brigitte: The gap is the same, it took less than a day to open, but about the same time to close it again. This is only temporary. Welcome.
I have heard from a few people who used these bands to close the gap and then had an orthodontist glue a wire behind the two teeth to keep them in place perminently.

TO Jonathen Kennedy: Hi, It’s still a temporary solution no matter what. Gap still opens after you stop using the bands. You do not wish to wear them all your life too, right? Not bad, still..
will the gap still appear if you wear a retainer almost all the time?
TO kristi: Most probably no. I cannot be sure either. I have not tried.
I have been using teeth gap bands for 7 months now. mY gap was about 3mm wide also. Now my gap is only wide enough to fit a noddle through but I want my gap completely closed. Unfortunately the fernum, or however you spell it, hangs between my teeth and my gap will not close until I find a way to get rid of that flap of skin. I was told to use a toothpick but a tooth pick is obviously too harsh to use on my gums. Any other suggestions?
