Top 10 Toilets in Singapore

Posted by: eugenemon on: April 10, 2007

Toilet is an important facility for every one. Therefore, toilets need to be maintained to the fullest to meet the needs of all people. Now I present to you, with pictures…

In the 10th place: Bugis Junction

Bugis Junction sink

It’s the best of the worst.

Bugis Junction urinal
Bugis Junction unique feature

See, Bugis toilet has a unique feature. That is people can still communicate with the person opposite while doing their business.

Bugis Junction Stained mirror

However, it has it’s bad points, though. The mirror is stained.

Bugis Junction wet floor

The floor is spilled with water.

Bugis Junction sign

Moreover, it does not provide paper towels for drying of hands. Maybe it got into top 10 because of it’s sign:

“Our ‘aim’ is to keep the toilet clean. Your ‘aim’ will definitely help. haha..

Talking of hand dryer, the time taken to dry one’s hand is approximately 2 minutes(unless you fling the water on the floor). Imagine the number of people queueing to dry their hands at the hand dryer.

So paper towels are much effective provided the people are considerate enough to dispose of the paper towels into the bins.

9th place goes to: Park Hotel Orchard

So nice to see the attendant cleaning the toilet as soon as we arrived there, or is it just coincidence?

Park Hotel Orchard Sink

This toilet is small and a little squeesy.

Park Hotel Orchard Urinals

The paper towels provided are of inferior quality. They can improve on that, even though it would cost a little more.

8th place: The Heeren

The Heeren sink

Although, it may look nice from the photo, it is not really that good but still, nevertheless, worthy of it’s placing.

The Heeren urinal

Clean too, unlike the previouses. Doesn’t provides paper towels.

7th: Wisma Atria

Wisma Atria sink

The design is nice. However, very small mirror. And very small space.

Wisma Atria urinal

It’s cute that the urinals look like they were built on the post box. haha, they were numbered 1 to 6 too. Used what urinal, use what sink. :P

6th place: Ngee Ann City

aka Takashimaya.

Ngee Ann City sink

Very big, very spacious.

Ngee Ann City urinal

Lots of urinal to cater to a large crowd, if there is. However, the feeling in there make you feel like leaving as soon as you are done. (abit like kopitiam feeling, u know?)

Ngee Ann City mirror

A large mirror to compliment for it’s not so good ambience.

5th goes to: Marina Square

Marina Square sink

Very clean and nice, I like.

Marina Square urinal

Practice your sentences before you meet her later.

Marina Square mirror

The big mirror makes you stand there looking at yourself and figuring out why girls keep looking at you just now.

4th place: Changi Airport

How can our lovely number one first class airport not be in our top 10 list?

Changi Airport toilet

Very nice, for a number one airport

In the 3rd place, our second runner up: The Paragon

Why paragon gets 3rd?

The Paragon door closedThe Paragon door partially opened

Because almost everything in it is automatic including the door. haa

The Paragon sink

The place is very clean, and the feeling of being in there makes you want to stay a little longer.

The Paragon urinal

The fun thing bout’ bring in there is you get to laugh at people who stand at the automatic door, staring at it. Like so retarded.

The Paragon mirror

It has big mirror, and paper towels. Very good. No wonder get third lah.

2th, first runner up goes to: Meritus Mandarin Singapore Hotel

My favourite toilet. Quite hidden..

Meritus Mandarin Singapore Hotel sink

It’s like this toilet belongs to you.

Meritus Mandarin Singapore Hotel urinal

Can’t find any bad points. This is the place with, from what i have seen, the best quality of paper towel. Even thicker than your house one. :P

Meritus Mandarin Singapore Hotel cubicle

Very very clean, toilet paper is always full also.

Meritus Mandarin Singapore Hotel dustbin

Supplies both paper towels and hand dryer, it’s your choice. You can play basketball shooting at the bin even. Yes that’s their bin for paper towel. Nicer than my house one. haha.

Finally, Number one 1st: Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore

The moment you enter the toilet, it’s like you enter to another place.

Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore picture

You are greeted by this nice picture frame, a dust bin and a stool(I am not sure for what).

Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore sink

The feeling and ambience of this place is even better, it’s quite big and it is all yours.

Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore urinal

I don’t know why they built so many urinal since this toilet is YOURS. :P

That’s it for today’s post. Special thanks to eric’s g friend, amanda.

If you have seen any other toilet that deserves a placing in the top ten, let me know here.

I believe there is a practical reason for having automatic toilet doors at Paragon. Although it should be noted that entering the toilet does require the pressing of a button. Exiting is completely automatic.

Having automatic doors would (technically) reduce the amount of workload that is placed on cleaners to keep the toilet clean and hygienic. People don’t have to physically push/pull open the door, which means there is no need to clean door handles. Also, imagine all the folks who do their business and don’t fail to wash their hands after that.

Suddenly, touching toilet doors seems to bring a whole new perspective.

I totally agree with you Hollud.

Yeah I wish all public toilets would have automated doors (for exiting at least).

As for the stool at the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore, I think it’s for the cleaner to sit on! Haha!

Veron: I thought so too, because i sat in there and chit-chat. hahaha..

#6 looks like it could be in America. Almost exactly like many of the restrooms here.

Mark: Then I see that Singapore is lacking alot here. Number 6 is just above average in Singapore.

i agree that toilets are important, ever thought of the times when your stomach disrespects your need to do what you have to do. but instead to return to the toilet to do what you have to do instead. when you see a dirty toilet, it reflects badly and could be a psychological trauma that will affect your manhood and your adult life. THATS why TT durain…or durai as you call him uses gold taps.

dear FF, perhaps you might want to try the ladies as well? ;D

[...] check this post [...]

Perhaps u can come up with the bottom 10 too. :P

Come to think of it, almost every time I walked past the ladies, I see ladies queue-ing up. Often, The queue led till the toilet entrance. I see that guys are much more efficient. =P

DK: I might try, haha. But there’s just too many. =D

doughnut: I would like to. But cannot la.. haha.

Fredericko: I think now is the minister’s turn to use gold taps since they got quite some pay rise..

Anyway guys, what’s a pingback?
